| State Park Overview: |
 | The park is located along the Stanislaus River near the town of Ripon, California. The park's 258 acres protect a fine example of the threatened and still declining riparian oak woodland, which once flourished throughout California's Central Valley. Caswell is home to several endangered animal species, including the riparian brush rabbit which is not known to occur anywhere else.
The Native Americans who lived along this river and collected acorns among these ancient groves were Yokuts. In the early 1800s, Spanish explorers traversed this area, and fur trappers found the river bountiful.
Thomas Caswell, landowner, enjoyed this wonderful forest and felt it should be preserved. In 1950 the children and grand children donated 134 acres to the people of California. Additional donations and state purchases brought Caswell to its current size of 258 acres. Caswell Memorial State Park was open to the public in 1958. |

beautiful
The park is just beautiful, though I was not treated to friendly by the camp host. They made us feel as they didnt want us there. No smile or greeting just acted as if we were bothering them by trying to check in.
The Ranger was just wonderful, helpful and friendly. The park is just beautiful and peaceful. Other than the camp hosts I would highly recommend them and will definatly go back there.......

OUR FAVORITE FAMILY GATHERINGS
We have been going to the camp grounds for about 5 years now and had only one issue with them.... other then that all has been great. Every year our groups have been getting bigger and bigger and every new person that has gone with us all say the same thing its a really nice place. The kids love it cause the water is so clear and clean and they enjoy going down the river on the floats and water boats. Showers and bathrooms now that they have been remodeled are wonderful. Everyone there is there for one thing and that is to have a good time. So much shade every where and the sites are very clean and very private. We have made this our family campgrounds ever since. The drive for us very short and I like that. I like to spend more time camping then traveling to get there so this makes it a perfect location. Its a taste of having the fresh out doors and the sense of being far but yet very close to civilization when needed. The stores are all very close.

Beautiful Park
Lots of different trees- lots of shade. The river was low but has enough water to wade & float down from the campsites to the day use area.
