State Park Overview:
Between Grand Isle and Cameron, Cypremort Point is the only locality near the Gulf of Mexico that can be reached by car. A half-mile stretch of a man-made beach provides a delightful area for relaxing, picnicking and enjoying the water. It also affords an opportunity for fishing, crabbing, water skiing, windsurfing and, of course, sailing.

A boat launch just outside the park's entrance is only a few miles from the Gulf of Mexico, and fishermen can venture out to fish in the Gulf or Bay. Catches of flounder and redfish are not uncommon in the area. For those interested in fishing from the shore, a 100-foot fishing pier is situated on the Bay. Overnight visitors also have access to adjacent boat docks and a fishing cleaning station.

In addition to excellent sailing and swimming facilities, the 185-acre park also holds a special attraction for nature enthusiasts. Located in the heart of a Louisiana marsh, the site contains an abundance of wildlife. The quiet observer may happen upon nutria, muskrat, alligator or a number of bird species native to the state. Deer, black bear, rabbits, opossum and red fox also make their home in this area, so stay aware of your surroundings and you may discover more of the natural charm of Cypremort Point. Hours of Operation: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday. All park sites close at 10 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and days preceding holidays.

Best beach and natural area in Louisiana

I am a native to Louisiana, but I have been living in Missouri for 17 years. Recently, I came back home to Crowley and brought my girlfriend to Avery Island to see the Tabasco factory and Jungle Gardens. She had never been to Louisiana and I thought maybe she needed to see the Gulf of Mexico. I was pleasantly surprised how nice Cypremont Point State Park was. We spent some time walking along the beach and just enjoying the scenery and the nice breeze.

Relaxing Annual Retreat

My husband and I like Cypermont Point immensely. The sunrises and sunsets are to die for. The cabins are the best with even an elevator for the handicapped. You can not help but be totally relaxed and at peace while there. We look forward to it each year and is our favorite state park site. We have stayed in many but this is our favorite. Thanks! Great Vacation spot

I have visited this park and stayed in the cabins every year for 9 years running. Every October the family gathers here for a week of fishing and relaxation. Love it.
