FAIR HILL STATE NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AREA
300 Tawes Drive
Elkton, Maryland   21921
Fair Hill is a 5,613 acre Natural Resources Management Area, where multiple management practices are employed for the maximum use and protection of Maryland's natural resources. Bordered by Pennsylvania to the north and less than one half mile west of Delaware, Fair Hill is known for its pristine fields, woodlands and natural beauty.

At one time one of the largest private land holdings in the East, Fair Hill was formerly owned by William duPont, Jr., an avid equestrian who acquired the farmland as a means to enjoying riding as well as fox chasing. Fair Hill was purchased by the state in 1975 from Mr. duPont's estate.

Fair Hill's attractions include the turf course, where steeplechase, timber course and flat races are held Memorial Day weekend with pari-mutuel wagering. A pavilion is situated near the historic, rustic covered bridge where visitors frequently stop for picnic lunches. The fairgrounds host the annual Cecil County Fair where some 80,000 visitors attend the weeklong event. An activity hall, with a capacity of 450 people, is located at the fairgrounds. It includes kitchen and restroom facilities, and is available to event planners for meetings, wedding receptions and a variety of events.
Fishing
You can enjoy freshwater fishing in the Big Elk Creek, where species like trout and smallmouth bass are abundant. Other fish include sunfish and catfish. Fishing requires a Maryland Non-Tidal/Freshwater Fishing License for individuals aged 16-64 years old.

July 14 An Undiscovered Jewel
park review stars; one to five More than 80 miles of trails and during the week it is almost unused. Go on a weekday and it is like you have all 5,000 acres to yourself. Take a day and plan a trip into what the wilderness was like 200 years ago.
July 26 Wonderful area. by David Gray
park review stars; one to five I ride my horse often in the wonderful park and I am thankful for your efforts. Today I noticed that the bad board in the iron bridge has rotted all the way through creating a significant hazard for equestrians...
September 19 Fabulous place to ride your horses and c by Stephanie
park review stars; one to five Fair Hill NRMA is a wonderful experience. If you are near or far you should try to get there to ride. All the trails are great and well marked with difficulty noted on the park map. Meadows, woods, streams and Elk creak to see and play in. Everyone we have met on the trails has bee courteous and nice. The restrooms and showers and are always well maintained. The horses get great accommodations with safe matted stalls, good lighting and lots of water hookups. You all have to come try Fair Hill.
