Set in the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee, 1,140-acre Henry Horton State Park is located on the former estate of the late Henry H. Horton, 36th governor of Tennessee. Located on the shores of the historic Duck River, the park provides hours of recreational enjoyment for the day or a weekend getaway in picturesque, pastoral Middle Tennessee.

The Buford Ellington 18-hole, par 72, championship golf course at Henry Horton State Park is one of the finest courses in the state of Tennessee. It is the home of the Annual Tennessee State High School Championship and was host tothe 1978 National Junior Collegiate Championship. The course measures 5,625 yards from the Ladies Forward tees and 7,020 yards from the Men?s Championship tees.
This challenging course is heavily treed with hardwoods, contains 37 bunkers and larger than average greens . Two holes of distinction are #10 and #14. The Signature and number one handicap hole, #10 is a Par 4, 461- yard uphill dogleg left with the green guarded by a bunker on the right. Number 14 is a 259 yards Par 3, one of the longest par threes in Tennessee.
Although the length may scare some golfers away, the fairways are generous in width and the greens larger than average. There are three sets of tees to accommodate every skill level and a friendly staff waiting to insure an enjoyable round of golf.

Henry Horton?s Buford Ellington Golf Course is located on U. S. Highway 31A. From Nashville travel south on I-65, follow signage to State Park. The golf course is located approximately 45 minutes from downtown Nashville.

Whether it?s a one-day seminar or a week-long sales meeting, this package takes the guess work out of planning and budgeting. This plan can be used at any of our six inns and conference centers.
Horton Inn provides 72 units, including four suites with kitchenettes. Each unit has two double beds. All rooms are carpeted, air-conditioned, and equipped with TV's and phones. The inn is very popular with golfers, vacationing families, conferences, and small conventions. The inn also provides a free continental breakfast daily.

Henry Horton State Park provides 75 campsites situated along the Duck River, designated a state scenic river. Twenty-one sites are primitive camp sites recommended for tents only. There is a large group site for primitive camping. The other 54 sites have tables, grills, water spigots and electrical hook-ups. Campers are served by two modern bathhouses and a dump station for self-contained trailer rigs.
All campsites are available on a first come-first served basis. Campers can set up on vacant sites and a seasonal camp attendant or Park Ranger will visit to the site to register users, usually in the late afternoon. The stay limit is two weeks.
The park has an olympic-sized pool with bathhouses and a concession stand. The pool is open from Memorial Day week-end through Sunday, July 31. Ample sunbathing space is provided with the pool area, and there is a wading pool for the kiddies. Lifeguards are on duty during swimming hours. Registered cabin guests swim free.
Camping guests swim at discounted rate with a camping receipt.
Enjoy fishing in the Duck River, known for its diverse aquatic life. Species include catfish, bass and bluegill. There's also a trout farm where you can fish year-round. The park offers boat rentals too.

Henry Horton has 83 picnic sites in a very scenic picnic area located on the shores of the Duck River. Tables and grills are provided and water, restrooms, playgrounds, and playfields are located nearby.
There are 4 large group picnic pavilions located nearby, capable of accommodating 125 people and equipped with grills and water spigots.

The park offers several biking trails, suitable for all skill levels. Be aware of varying terrain and potential hazards.
One popular option is the Adeline Wilhoite River Trail; it's a paved path ideal for casual cyclists.
For mountain bikers seeking more challenge, there are unpaved paths with steep inclines and rough surfaces throughout the area.
Always wear protective gear when cycling in this location due to unpredictable conditions on some routes.
Bike rentals may not always be available so consider bringing your own equipment if possible.
Remember that shared-use rules apply on most tracks - stay alert for pedestrians or other users at all times.
Weather can affect trail conditions significantly; check forecasts before planning any rides here.
Birding enthusiasts can spot species like the Eastern Bluebird, American Goldfinch and Red-tailed Hawk. The park's diverse habitats attract a variety of birds year-round. Birdwatchers may also see waterfowl along Duck River or in wetland areas during migration seasons. Other common sightings include Northern Cardinals, Carolina Chickadees and Tufted Titmice.
Gift Shop:
The gift shop offers a wide assortment of gifts, collectibles and souvenirs. You can choose from a variety of items such as a cap and t-shirt to a crystal ornament or a walking stick hand crafted in Tennessee, picture frames, magnets, mugs, and plush animals for the kids. And if you have forgotten your toothbrush, we have that too! Please come in, browse and enjoy.

Activities to enjoy at the park include volleyball, disc golf, baseball, basketball court, tennis and playground.
Professional Trap and Skeet Range: Open seasonally, first working day after March 15th thru December 1st. Open Wednesday thru Sunday, closed on Monday and Tuesday. There are five skeet fields, 2 trap fields, lodge building with concessions, gun rental and ammo available. A picnic shelter is available for large shoots or related gatherings. No pullers provided. Must be 18 years of age or youth sportsman. A valid hunter education card required for shooters under the age of 18.
