| State Park Overview: |
 | Description - Located between Malvern and Hot Springs, Lake Catherine State Park park is nestled in the Ouachita Mountains on the shore of 1,940-acre Lake Catherine. Shades of the past are seen in wood and stone facilities constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps that today combine rustic warmth and modern conveniences.
Attractions - The park offers rental boats (year-round), a marina offering bait and fuel (summer only), a launch ramp, standard pavilion, picnic sites, playgrounds, laundry and trails. Gifts, groceries, snacks and ice are available at the visitor center (year-round) that overlooks the swimming area and nature center (summer). Nestled along the shore are 17 fully equipped cabins with kitchens (some with fireplaces) and a boat dock. Seventy campsites and two "Rent-A Camp" sites dot the lakeshore and secluded woodlands.
Recreation - Lake Catherine State Park offers numerous outdoor activities. Visitors can camp, picnic, hike, swim, boat, and fish. Interpreters provide guided hikes, boat tours, programs and workshops during summer or by advance request year-round
Climate - Arkansas has a temperate climate with the coldest temperatures near freezing during December, January and February. Daytime highs for these months usually reach 55 degrees F. Spring and fall temperatures are very mild with lows dipping to 44 degrees F and highs reaching 70 degrees F. July and August are the hottest months of the year with average temperatures reaching 90 degrees F. June and September average temperatures usually reach into the mid-eighties.
