LAKE LOWNDES STATE PARK
Lake Lowndes State Park offers complete recreational facilities for individuals, families, and groups. Located on a beautiful 150-acre lake, the park offers unlimited opportunities for fishing and camping, as well as complete facilities for football, tennis, softball, and other organized sports. Mississippi University for Women (The "W") and Mississippi State University (MSU) are just a short drive to the west, making Lake Lowndes State Park the perfect place to stay during a football weekend at MSU or while visiting either campus.

The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is an available boat launch ramp, making it easy to take your own vessel out on the water. If you don't have your own boat, rentals are also offered at this location including canoes and paddle boats which provide leisurely ways to explore the lake's surface. Motorized vessels aren't allowed in order to maintain peace and tranquility within the area.
Visitors can enjoy fishing in a 150-acre freshwater lake. Species include largemouth bass, bream, catfish and crappie. Fishing boats are available for rent on-site or you may bring your own boat with trolling motor only.

Lake Lowndes State Park offers numerous picnic spots with tables and grills, some even featuring covered pavilions for larger groups.
Bicycling enthusiasts can explore a 5-mile trail, but be aware it's shared with hikers. Helmets are strongly recommended.
The terrain is mostly flat and paved, suitable for beginners or family rides. Stay vigilant of pedestrians.
Mountain bikers might find the trails less challenging due to lack of elevation changes; however, caution should still prevail.
Remember that cycling after dark isn't permitted within park boundaries - plan your ride accordingly to avoid disappointment.
Always adhere strictly to posted signs regarding restricted areas as some parts may not allow bicycles for safety reasons.
