LITTLE BLUE-DISNEY STATE PARK
Disney/Little Blue State Park is just the place to enjoy the wonders of Grand Lake. Camp, fish, or just picnic. You won't want to leave.
Disney State Park is located by the flood gates of the Pensacola Dam. This park is a popular site for bass fishing and watersports, and offers picnic areas, lighted boat ramp, group picnic shelter, playground, and tent camping sites.
Established in 1955, the park is located near Disney, Oklahoma. It's named after Little Blue Creek that runs through it. The area was initially used by Native American tribes for hunting and fishing.
In the mid-20th century, Grand River Dam Authority created a reservoir which now forms part of the park's landscape. This led to an increase in recreational activities such as boating and swimming.
The state took over management from GRDA in 1987 due to budget constraints on their end. Since then improvements have been made including camping facilities upgrade.
Despite financial challenges faced by Oklahoma State Parks Department during early 2000s, this site remained open with reduced services until full operations were restored later on.
Today it offers various outdoor activities like hiking trails along scenic bluffs overlooking Lake Hudson while maintaining its rich cultural history intact.
