History of the Area
Located in the heart of Oregon, this natural reserve has a rich history that dates back to centuries. The area was originally inhabited by Native American tribes who used it for hunting and gathering resources.

In the mid-19th century, European settlers arrived and began farming on these fertile lands. Over time, they also discovered its potential as an attractive recreational spot due to its scenic beauty encompassing lush forests and serene water bodies.

The idea of preserving this land came into existence during the early 20th century when environmental conservation became a significant concern across America. In 1933, under President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal program aimed at providing employment opportunities amidst Great Depression era hardships; workers were employed here for various projects including building trails or improving infrastructure which laid foundation towards establishing it as protected parkland.

Finally recognized officially in 1944 after years of advocacy from local communities & nature enthusiasts alike; today's popular outdoor destination offers visitors numerous activities such hiking trails through dense woods filled with diverse flora/fauna species along with fishing/camping facilities near pristine lakes/rivers making every visit memorable one indeed!
