1. Salmon Lake State Park offers a designated swimming area in the clear, cool waters of Salmon Lake.
2. Lifeguards are not provided so swimmers should exercise caution and swim at their own risk.
3. The lake's sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing or building sandcastles between swims.
4. Swimming off boats is allowed but must be within 200 feet from shore to ensure safety regulations are met.
5. Water temperatures can vary greatly throughout the year; it's advisable to check current conditions before planning your swim trip.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. There is a boat ramp available, allowing easy access to the water for those with their own vessels. Motorized and non-motorized boats are both permitted on the lake, providing opportunities for activities such as fishing or simply enjoying the scenic surroundings from out on the water. Canoeing and kayaking are also popular choices among guests at this location in Montana.
Fishing
Enjoy fishing for rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, kokanee salmon and northern pike in a serene lake setting. The park also offers ice fishing during winter months. Boat ramps are available for easy access to the water. Fishing licenses are required before you cast your line.



Picnicking
Salmon Lake State Park offers numerous picnic tables, fire rings and grills. It also has a group-use shelter available.
Bicycling
While exploring the park, one can enjoy a leisurely bike ride on its paved roads. However, there are no dedicated biking trails within this natural reserve.

Biking is permitted only during daylight hours for safety reasons and cyclists must adhere to all posted speed limits.

Cyclists should be aware that wildlife encounters may occur while riding; caution and respect towards animals is essential.

It's important to note that off-road or mountain biking isn't allowed due to environmental protection policies in place at the site.

Always wear appropriate gear including helmets when cycling around the area as terrain varies throughout.

Remember: leave no trace behind - carry out any trash you bring with your picnic supplies or snacks during your cycle tour.
Birding
The park offers a diverse bird population, ideal for birdwatchers. Species include ospreys, loons and various waterfowl. The area's dense forest also attracts numerous songbirds.
