SANDSTONE FALLS
SANDSTONE FALLS   25918
(lat:37.7585 lon:-80.9054)
The largest waterfall on the New River, Sandstone Falls spans the river where it is 1500 feet wide. Divided by a series of islands, the river drops 10 to 25 feet.

Sandstone Falls marks the transition zone of the New River from a broad river of large bottomlands, to a narrow mountain river roaring through a deep boulder strewn V- shaped gorge. The falls form the dramatic starting line for the New Rivers final rush trough the New River Gorge to its confluence with the Gauley river to form the Kanawha River.

Location
Sandstone Falls is located near Beckley, Oak Hill and Blacksburg

August 17 Completely Awesome! by Ashley
We have fam in W.V. and just got back from a week spent in that great state. We stayed in Hinton and drove up and down mountains everywhere we went. Gorgeous! We spent two nights camping at Bluestone, packed up and headed to Sandstone for some more fishing. We fished right on the bank, down from the falls. Wading and splashing in the water, climbing rocks, and hiking trails all day. You want to see pure, natural beauty, go to Sandstone.
April 26 wilderness beauty and peace by Robin
When I lived in Sandstone as a boy I could row up to the falls and not see another person all day. Now, a wonderful series of boardwalks opens this treasure to everyone.
