History of the Area
Located in the heart of Oregon, this natural haven has a rich history that dates back to the 19th century. Originally known for its mineral springs, it was believed by many Native American tribes and early settlers to have healing properties.

In 1847, John Denny discovered these unique soda springs while traveling on his way westward during the gold rush era. He decided to settle there with his family due to their fascination with these effervescent waters bubbling from beneath limestone rocks.

The town around which grew rapidly as word spread about its therapeutic water source; henceforth named Sodaville after those distinctive features. By mid-1850s, people traveled far and wide seeking relief from various ailments through "taking the waters."

During late Victorian times (1880 -1901), an elegant resort hotel called The Grand Ronde Hotel was built near spring site attracting tourists who enjoyed not only health benefits but also recreational activities like horseback riding or picnicking amidst lush greenery surrounding area's landscape.

However, over time interest waned leading eventually towards closure of once-popular spa destination leaving behind remnants such as old bathhouses still visible today reminding visitors past glory days when place buzzed activity excitement wellness seekers alike

Despite decline popularity among public at large remained cherished local community members continued use enjoy refreshing coolness provided naturally carbonated beverage straight earth itself!

Directions
1. Start on the I:5 highway heading south from Portland or north from Eugene.
2. Take exit 228 for Lebanon/Sweet Home, then turn east onto Highway 34 towards Lebanon.
3. Continue driving on Highway 34 for approximately 10 miles until you reach Sodaville Road SE.
4. Turn left onto Sodaville Road SE and continue straight for about half a mile until you see signs indicating the entrance to Sodaville Springs State Park.
