Swimming
1. Sutherland Reservoir State Park offers a designated swimming area for visitors.
2. The reservoir's sandy beaches provide an ideal spot for sunbathing and building sandcastles.
3. Lifeguards are not on duty, so swimmers swim at their own risk.
4. Swimming is allowed during daylight hours only to ensure safety of the park guests.
5. Water shoes are recommended due to occasional sharp rocks or debris in the water areas.
6. The clear waters make it perfect for cooling off during hot summer days.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options. It features three boat ramps and two docks, providing easy access to the water for all types of vessels including motorboats, sailboats, canoes or kayaks. The 3,000-acre lake is perfect for both leisurely rides and more adventurous activities like waterskiing or wakeboarding. Anglers will also appreciate the opportunity to fish from their boats as this reservoir is known for its walleye population along with other species such as white bass and channel catfish.
Fishing
Anglers can enjoy shore or boat fishing in a 3,017-acre lake. Species include walleye, white bass and channel catfish.

In winter months, ice-fishing is popular for catching yellow perch.

Boat ramps are available for easy water access.

Fishing equipment rentals are offered on-site.

Sutherland Reservoir State Park offers picnic tables and grills for visitors. Enjoy a meal amidst nature's beauty in Nebraska.

The park offers diverse birding opportunities with over 200 species observed. It's a hotspot for migratory birds. Birdwatchers can spot waterfowl, shorebirds and raptors among others in the area.
