One of our favorite parks
Had some slight reservations about trying Villanueva as we preferred somewhat more secluded campsites. Tho the seclusion could be better the campground itself could not be. Offered 2 trails. Would have preferred more challenging ones, but they were very nice & very scenic. The river was beautiful. Foremost, this place is extremely well maintained. The stafff is courteous & takes great pride in their work. We WILL be back.

workers are the best
My husben and I and daugher of 8 go camping at Vellanueva every summer.
There is a little bit of everything there. Very cozy, campsite very clean, the hospitalty of the workers are the best, they make your stay very welcomed.

An Oasis
We were looking for a 1/2 way point to camp on the way home and saw Villanueva on the map. We decided to give it a try. I was very concerned where we were going after turning off of the interstate, but a few miles later we came to the most beautiful State Park I have see in a long time. Very well taken care of. It was like coming across an Oasis in the desert. We camped on the upper camping area and the sunset on the cliffs was BEAUTIFUL with the full moon rising above them. So quite at night and the stars were great! I plan on a return trip here for sure. The rest rooms were very nice. We were not able to stay for the program at the visitors center, but it sounded interesting. All I can say is, Villanueva is well worth the time it takes to get there. Just Beautiful!
