BIXBY STATE PARK
Bixby State Preserve, located in northeastern Iowa near the town of Edgewood, is a scenic natural area known for its rugged limestone bluffs and rich biodiversity. Spanning approximately 184 acres, this preserve offers visitors an opportunity to explore unique geological formations such as caves and sinkholes.
Opened to the public in 1979, Bixby features cold-water streams that support native brook trout populations-a delight for anglers. The park's main attraction is Ice Cave Hill Park with ice deposits persisting year-round inside caverns due to peculiar airflow patterns within them. Trails meander through forested areas providing glimpses of diverse plant life while birdwatchers can spot various species.
