South Dakota State Parks
We especially wanted to thank the camphost, Pam, and the gentleman, Mike, who replaced our screen in the cabin VERY promptly as being especially helpful.
Recently on my way back to Minnesota I drove to Custer State Park because I wanted to go on the wildlife loop. I had to pay $20 just to drive thru because they do not have 1 day passes, only 7 day passes. I am a senior, they should have a senior discount or a 1 day pass. Just saying... Breathtaking, beautiful, gorgeous, must see!!My mom and I traveled the U.S.A. from Georgia and this was a memorable stop along our trip. We rode thru on our motorcycle and the buffalo walked right by us! It is like being in a movie! If you ever thought about going to see the area quit thinking about it and go it was worth the 16 hr drive for me 0ne way....I promise you wont be disapointed. First saw the park as a small boy and have not missed a summer here for over 35 years. I recommend to everyone to see and stay in the park at least once. We were here around 4-5 summers ago. I can still remember how awsome it felt to see the wild buffalo,and other wildlife. I have always said I would LOVE to up and move to South Dakota and after being there that feeling is even stronger. I dream of the day when I will be able to make a return trip. Ohio seems like a world away from this majestic, beautiful place. The Black Hills of South Dakota and Custer State Park is my favorite place in the country! We visit there every year (from Iowa) I love to visit all the familiar places and yet continue to find something new each time. We visited in January this year to have a new experience and will be returning in the fall. The beauty of the Park, the smell of the trees, impressive wildlife, makes me want to get in the car and go right now! I cant think of a place that is more majestic and beautiful. This is a large park. There was lots of wildlife, pretty scenery, and history. Too bad I was so rushed. I need to return when I have more time. We loved the park. We were amazed to see at close range, the hundreds of Buffalo. We also enjoyed the Burros and Prarie Dogs. Thanks to the informative park ranger who was giving a talk on how every thing on the Buffalo was used by the Indians. The roads were in good condition and we enjoyed the scenic views & trails as we traveled though the park over 4 days. one of my favorite places on earth.
The Black Hills are amazing. So many things to see and do. Truly a must see place, you will not be bored!
