This park is one of the best kept secrets in the Massachusetts forest and park system. Here, an 1800-foot saltwater beach is backed by rambling hills of beach grass and shaded, grassy picnic sites. A broad, scenic marsh lines the Slocum River on the park's eastern edge.

The beach is ideal for families with children. The Buzzards Bay surf is calm and shallow, giving rise to warm watertemperatures through most of the summer. It is also a great spot to see egrets, herons, ospreys, terns and hawks.
Swimming
- Demarest Lloyd Memorial State Park offers a calm swimming area on Buzzards Bay.
- The park's beach is over half a mile long, providing ample space for swimmers.
- Lifeguards are typically present during the summer months to ensure swimmer safety.
- Swimming at high tide is recommended due to shallow waters and soft sandbars at low tide.
- Changing rooms with showers are available near the beach for convenience after swimming.
-The water tends to be warmer than open ocean beaches making it ideal for extended swims or children.
Fishing
Enjoy saltwater fishing on Buzzards Bay, where you can catch species like striped bass and bluefish. Freshwater options include largemouth bass in the park's pond.

Picnicking
Demarest Lloyd State Park offers picnic areas with tables and grills, perfect for family gatherings. No alcohol is allowed in the park.
Birding
The park offers birdwatchers a variety of habitats, including beachfront and woodland areas. It's home to numerous species such as ospreys, herons, egrets and various songbirds. The best time for birding is during the migration seasons in spring and fall.
