LAKE BOB SANDLIN STATE PARK
LAKE BOB SANDLIN STATE PARK
Lake Bob Sandlin State Park is a 639.8-acre park located on the heavily-wooded shoreline on the north side of the 9400-acre Lake Bob Sandlin, located southeast of Mount Pleasant in Titus County. It was acquired in 1979 and was opened 1987.

There is evidence of prehistoric Caddoan people which occupied East Texas from 200 B.C. to 1700. The French and Spanish periodically occupied the area; establishing relations with the Caddo. Choctaw, Cherokee, and Kickapoo moved into East Texas in the late 18th to early 19th century. By 1841, Fort Sherman, a wooden stockade whose site is believed to be in or near the park, was established. The Fort Sherman cemetery is located in the park. Since 1860, the land has been used for farming and ranching.

Bicycling
Visitors can enjoy a 4.5-mile trail, suitable for both mountain biking and hiking. Be aware of uneven terrain.

The park's bike route is not recommended for beginners due to its challenging nature with steep inclines.

Cyclists should be cautious as the path includes sharp turns and sudden drops that require advanced skills to navigate safely.

Biking after dark isn't advised; visibility on trails decreases significantly making it potentially dangerous.

Remember: helmets are mandatory while cycling in this area - safety first!

Ensure your bicycle has good brakes because some sections have quite rapid descents which could prove hazardous otherwise.

Always carry water when bicycling here since Texas heat can lead quickly into dehydration if you're unprepared.

Please respect wildlife by keeping distance, especially during breeding seasons or nesting periods where animals may become more defensive.

Lastly, always adhere strictly to marked paths so as not disturb natural habitats or risk getting lost within the vast grounds.
