MELVERN STATE PARK
Melvern State Park, located in eastern Kansas near the town of Melvern, is a scenic outdoor destination surrounding the 6,930-acre Melvern Lake. The park itself spans over 1,200 acres and offers an array of recreational activities including camping with both utility and primitive sites available.
Opened on December 18th, 1974 to provide public access for lake-related recreation and relaxation opportunities. Its main features include boating facilities with marinas & docks; fishing areas stocked with various species like catfish & bass; hiking trails through diverse habitats; picnic spots perfect for family gatherings or quiet retreats into nature.
Visitors can also enjoy swimming beaches during warmer months along its shores while wildlife enthusiasts may spot white-tailed deer or wild turkeys among other local fauna within this peaceful setting managed by the Kansas Department of Wildlife Parks Tourism (KDWPT).
