July 27 excellant boogie boarding surf,

I have been there four times in the last month and yesterday was great. We spent almost 2 hours boogie boarding in the surf. This is by far the best state park in the system. I enjoy being in the water even on a cloudy, foggy day boogie boarding in the surf.

February 3 Popham in the winter by Not a tea partier

Unbelievable the state of Maine chooses to collect a gate fee on a Sunday afternoon in February with an attendant. Residents who pay enough in taxes already should have this available for free during the winter 7 days a week. Perhaps a better money manager is needed to oversee the State Parks.

August 23 Our favorite place on Earth

all the state parks were re-done several years ago and have wonderful bathroom facilities. great showers in the camping areas. we have gone to all of them. not sure why the above comment mentions outhouses at Popham, that was years ago. Beautiful facilities now, not an outhouse in site. was just there this week. On August 20th, 2013

May 30 bathroom issue

Hi, we were at Popham today (5/30/13) and it was quite crowded, but there were only 2 outhouses to serve everyone because the regular bathroom facilities were closed. There were 3 busses with schoolchildren at the park. Can you imagine trying to get 100 kids or so through one outhouse? Sounds like a nightmare to me. If the park is open & admission is being charged, then at least one of the normal restrooms should be open.
