With its warm, blue waters and red sandstone landscape, Sand Hollow State Park provides recreation opportunities for nearly every visitor, from boaters and off-highway vehicle OHV riders, to triathletes. Boat and fish on Sand Hollow Reservoir, explore and ride the dunes of Sand Mountain on an OHV, then RV or tent camp in one of the campgrounds.

The sprawling 20,000-acre park, which rests mostly on USDI Bureau of Land Management BLM land, is one of the most visited destinations in the Utah State Parks system.
History of the Area
Completed in April 2003, Sand Hollow Reservoir was created by the Washington County Water Conservancy District as additional water storage for the Quail Creek system. Used as culinary water by cities and towns in southwestern Utah, Sand Hollow Reservoir serves as an important water source in this otherwise hot and arid part of Utah.
Camping
Westside Campground offers full-hookups of water, sewer and electricity, barbeques, firepits, tables, and cabanas at each site. Modern restrooms and showers are available. Noncampers can use the Westside Campground showers for $2 per person.

Sand Pit is the new OHV accessible campground located along the south shore of Sand Hollow Reservoir. The 30-site campground has six sites with water and electrical hook-ups, and five large group sites. Restrooms and showers are available.

Primitive camping is available along the east and south shores. Up to eight people are allowed per vehicle/site. Picnic tables and pit toilets are available. This is an undeveloped area.
Swimming
1. Sand Hollow State Park offers a large reservoir for open water swimming.
2. The park's sandy beaches provide easy access to the water.
3. Lifeguards are not on duty, so swim at your own risk and supervise children closely.
4. Swimming is allowed throughout most of the lake except in boat restricted areas.
5. Water temperatures can reach up to 80 degrees Fahrenheit during summer months making it ideal for swimming activities.
6. The clear blue waters offer excellent visibility while swimming or snorkeling.
7. Water shoes are recommended due to rocky sections along some parts of the beach area.

Fishing
Enjoy fishing in a beautiful reservoir known for its warm, blue waters. The main species include largemouth bass and bluegill. There's also an abundance of catfish to catch at night or early morning hours. Anglers can fish from shorelines or boats with no restrictions on motor size.

Picnicking
Sand Hollow State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills, surrounded by stunning red rock landscapes.
Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can explore various trails, suitable for different skill levels. Be cautious of the desert environment and terrain.

The park's diverse landscape offers a mix of sandy dunes, rocky hillsides, and paved paths ideal for biking adventures.

Remember to pack plenty of water as temperatures in this area can soar during summer months.

Mountain bikers will find challenging routes with steep inclines that require advanced skills and endurance.

For beginners or casual riders, there are flatter areas perfect for leisurely rides while enjoying scenic views around them.

Ensure your bike is well-maintained before setting off on any trail due to rugged conditions you may encounter here.

Night riding is not recommended because visibility decreases significantly after sunset; always prioritize safety first!

Always wear appropriate protective gear such as helmets when cycling within these grounds - it's essential given the unpredictable nature of some terrains encountered here.

It's important to note that motorized vehicles aren't allowed on most trails ensuring safer experiences for cyclists throughout their journey.
