Colt State Park in Bristol is often referred to as the 'gem' of the State Parks System. The entire western border of the park is an open panorama onto Narragansett Bay. Open year round, the park offers four miles of bicycle trails passing along the Bay and through 464 acres of groomed fruit trees, carefully nurtured flowering bushes, and manicured lawns. Rich in history, it proudly displays its popular open air Chapel-By-The-Sea, ten large playfields, and six picnic groves containing 400+ picnic tables.
Fishing
You can enjoy saltwater fishing in the Narragansett Bay, catching species like striped bass and bluefish. Freshwater options include trout fishing at Mill Gut Brook.

Picnicking
Colt State Park offers 400 picnic tables, charcoal grills and four pavilions for picnicking with stunning ocean views.
Bicycling
Biking is a popular activity in this 464-acre park. The area offers four miles of bike paths with scenic views.

The terrain varies from flat to hilly, providing options for both beginners and experienced cyclists alike.

Cyclists should be aware that the trails can get crowded during peak times, especially on weekends or holidays.

It's important to note helmets are required by law for riders under 16 years old; it's recommended all bikers wear them regardless of age.

Keep an eye out as these pathways also accommodate pedestrians - remember to share the trail respectfully!

For those without their own bikes, rentals aren't available onsite so plan accordingly before your visit.

Remember: always follow posted signs regarding speed limits and other safety regulations while biking here!
Birding
The park offers a variety of birding options, with over 400 acres to explore. It's home to diverse species including songbirds, waterfowl and raptors. The coastal location attracts migratory birds as well.

park review stars; one to five The cosmetic is beautiful. But the water is questionable. Has it been tested for any type of parasites. When my daughter and I got in up to our ankles the water made us itchy. My daughter cried it hurt her legs so much. Now I am feeling like something is under my skin. I will get it checked. I think the water should be tested.
