FEDERATION FOREST STATE PARK
Federation Forest State Park is a day-use natural area with 619 acres of old growth evergreens. Located along the White River, the park provides visitors with 12 miles of hiking trail, three interpretive trails, an interpretive center with a gift shop and four picnic areas.
The park was acquired, built and organized through the work of Catherine Montgomery and her affiliation with the Washington State Federation of Women's Clubs. The park was dedicated in 1949 and was acquired in four parcels from 1941 to 1971.

Federation Forest State Park is located near Buckley, Enumclaw and Maple Valley
There are two picnic shelters wthout electricity and five sheltered picnic tables. The upper picnic area has drinking fountains, a covered shelter, braziers and restrooms with running water. To reserve a picnic shelter or for parties of 20 or more, call (888) CAMPOUT or (888) 226-7688. The park has ADA-compliant restrooms and four standard restrooms.
1. White River Trail: This 0.5-mile trail is wheelchair-accessible and offers stunning views of the river, forest, and wildlife.
2. Eastside Interpretive Loop: A short but informative loop that's about a mile long with interpretative signs along the way explaining various aspects of local flora and fauna.
3. West Side Nature Trails: These trails are more rugged than others in Federation Forest State Park; they offer hikers an opportunity to explore old-growth forests up close over approximately two miles distance.
4. E.H.Clemans Viewpoint Trail: An easy half-mile hike leading to a viewpoint overlooking beautiful vistas including Mount Rainier on clear days.
5. Catherine Montgomery Interpretive Center Pathway: It's less than quarter mile pathway which leads you through lush greenery towards Catherine Montgomery center where one can learn about park history & ecology.
6. Federation Promenade: Another accessible path for all abilities stretching around 0:25 miles offering serene walk amidst nature.
7. Big Tree Walk: As name suggests this brief stroll takes visitors past some enormous trees within park premises, it stretches only upto 200 feet making it suitable even for young kids or elderly people.
8 Greenwater Lakes via Lost Creek Ridge Hike: For those seeking longer hikes (around nine:miles), this route provides breathtaking scenery as well as opportunities for fishing at Greenwater lakes.
9 Skookum Flats Trial #1194: This challenging eight:mile round trip follows white water riverside providing thrilling experience especially during spring runoff season when waters roar down from mountains above.
10 Dalles Campground Loop: Perfect family friendly option covering just under three:quarters of a mile looping around campground area showcasing variety of plant species native to region.
Birdwatchers can spot species like the Northern Spotted Owl, Marbled Murrelet and Pileated Woodpecker. Other common birds include Steller's Jay, Varied Thrush and Pacific Wren. The park also hosts migratory bird populations in different seasons.

From I-5: Take SR 18 ( Auburn-Enumclaw exit). Drive south to Enumclaw. Turn left on Hwy. 410 at Safeway Shopping Center. Follow Hwy. 410 east for 18 miles. At milepost 41, turn right at interpretive center entrance.
