Swimming
1. Harriman State Park offers two public beaches, Lake Tiorati and Lake Welch.
2. Both lakes are equipped with lifeguards during the summer season.
3. Swimming is allowed from Memorial Day through Labor Day at these locations.
4. The park also has several other smaller bodies of water for swimming but without lifeguard supervision.
5. Kayaking or canoeing can be done in Sebago Cabins' lakefront area as an alternative to traditional swimming activities.

Boating
The park offers a variety of boating options for visitors. Canoeing and kayaking are popular activities, with several lakes such as Lake Welch, Sebago Lake and Silver Mine Lake being suitable locations. Motorized boats aren't allowed in the park's waters to maintain peace and tranquility but rowboats can be rented at Hessian lake from Memorial Day through Labor day weekend. Fishing is also permitted on these bodies of water provided that one has obtained the necessary permit beforehand.
Fishing
Numerous lakes and streams offer opportunities for fishing. Species include largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, trout, pickerel, perch and sunfish. Seven Lakes Drive is a popular spot with anglers due to its variety of fish species. Lake Tiorati has boat rentals available for those looking to cast their lines further out into the water.

Lake Welch boasts an abundance of catfish while Island Pond offers excellent brook trout fishing conditions in springtime.

Fishing licenses are required before casting your line here; they can be purchased online or at local sporting goods stores.

Fly-fishermen often head towards Stony Brook where brown trout thrive amidst clear waters.

Remember that catch-and-release practices help maintain healthy fish populations within these bodies of water.

Picnicking
1. Harriman State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills.
2. Picnic by the lakeside for a serene experience.
3. Some sites offer pavilions, perfect for large gatherings or events.
4. Enjoy picnicking while hiking on one of many trails in the park.
5. Many picnic spots have nearby restrooms and playgrounds for convenience.

Bicycling
Biking enthusiasts can explore over 200 miles of trails, though not all are suitable for cycling. Be aware that some paths may be steep and rocky.

Mountain biking is permitted on designated routes only. Always check trail signs before embarking to avoid fines or accidents.

The park's terrain varies greatly; from easy flat roads perfect for beginners to challenging mountainous tracks meant for experienced riders.

For a scenic ride, try the seven-mile loop around Lake Welch Drive which offers stunning views but has moderate traffic levels.

Remember: safety first! Helmets are required by law in New York State when bicycling if you're under age 14.

Be cautious as wildlife sightings - including deer and bears - could occur during your bike rides through these natural surroundings.

Lastly, always respect nature by staying on marked trails and disposing trash properly after enjoying your outdoor adventure here.
Birding
Numerous birding options exist, with over 200 species recorded. Birders can spot hawks, eagles and songbirds among others. The park's diverse habitats attract a variety of migratory birds too.
