REDONDO BEACH STATE PARK
Redondo Beach is a southern California beach town located along Pacific Coast Highway 1. Once a commercial port, Redondo Beach has a beautiful pier that is now home to a variety of shops, restaurants, marinas, live music and a sport fishing fleet. There is also an oceanfront esplanade, which has been called one of ?the most romantic sunset-watching places in the world!? King Harbor provides plenty of opportunities for swimming, surfing, boating, bike rentals and fishing. And, there is also a beautiful seaside lagoon located in Redondo Beach that is open to the public and offers swimming, a children?s playground, a large sand area for sunbathing and volleyball courts. Other attractions include Veterans Park and Czuleger Park and the famous ?Whaling Wall,? painted by world famous artist, Wyland. You?ll find every kind of food imaginable in Redondo Beach, from pizza to seafood, fast food restaurants to elegant dining. Lodging is just as varied from quality hotels and motels to beautiful apartments located right on the beach. And, Redondo Beach is centrally located near all the other popular Los Angeles and Orange County theme parks and attractions. Redondo Beach offers visitors a safe, relaxing environment to base their next southern California vacation.
History of the Area
This park was originally inhabited by the Tongva Native Americans. European exploration began around 1542 with Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo's expedition.

In the late 1800s, it became a popular resort destination due to its scenic beauty and mild climate. The Pacific Electric Railway made access easier for tourists from Los Angeles during that time period.

The area underwent significant development throughout the early-to-mid-20th century as population growth surged in Southern California.

It is known for recreational activities such as swimming and surfing along with attractions like Veterans Park and Redondo Beach Pier.
