Picnicking
Stephen F. Austin State Park offers numerous picnic sites with tables and grills, some even featuring covered shelters or pavilions.
Bicycling
For biking enthusiasts, the park offers a 6-mile trail suitable for all skill levels. Be mindful of pedestrians.

The terrain is mostly flat with some small hills, making it ideal for beginners or casual riders.

Mountain bikers should be aware that trails are shared-use and respect other users' space to ensure safety.

Remember to wear helmets while riding as per state law; this applies especially to children under 13 years old.

Bike rentals aren't available on-site so remember bring your own equipment when planning a visit here.

Check weather conditions before heading out since heavy rain can make paths muddy and difficult to navigate safely.

Avoid night-time cycling due its limited visibility which may pose potential hazards even if you have lights equipped.

Always stay within marked bike routes - venturing off could lead into potentially dangerous wildlife habitats.

Birding
The park offers birding opportunities with over 200 species spotted, including the Red-shouldered Hawk and Northern Cardinal. Other birds sighted include Eastern Bluebirds, American Goldfinches, and White-eyed Vireos. Birdwatchers may also spot migratory species like Swainson's Hawks or Indigo Buntings in season.

August 23 Mountain Bike Trails
park review stars; one to five Good trails. I wish the trail were longer. You will see a lot of deer on the trails. I wish the park was bigger with more longer trails. Great trail for beginners and ride with your kids and family.
February 27 Very Helpful and Friendly by VandeVenters
park review stars; one to five We enjoyed our first stay at Stephen Austin S.P. - the pull-thru site was great, plus full service. What really made it a good experience was the people at the office who came to our rescue. The camper converter went out and, since we were without a working refrig., they offered us the use of a spare refrig in the group camping area. What a godsend that was! And the employees were so friendly. Thank you - that certainly helped our attitudes while dealing with a malfunctioning camper!
