WALKER LAKE STATE PARK
WALKER LAKE STATE PARK
Walker Lake is one of the last remnants of an ancient inland sea which covered much of western Nevada nearly 10,000 years ago. Visitors enjoy fishing, boating, swimming and picnicking, plus facilities at the park include shade ramadas, tables and grills along a sandy beach. Walker Lake State Recreation Area is located 11 miles north of Hawthorne on U.S. 95. The park is open all year.

Enjoy fishing in a serene environment with options for shore or boat angling. Species include Lahontan cutthroat trout and tui chub.

Walker Lake State Park offers numerous picnic areas with tables and grills, many offering stunning views of the lake.

Birdwatchers can enjoy spotting a variety of species including migratory birds, waterfowl and raptors. The area is particularly popular during migration seasons for its diverse bird population. Birding enthusiasts may spot the common loon, eared grebe or even the rare snowy plover. Raptors such as bald eagles are also sighted frequently in winter months.
