- Park and lake are great, but it is very concerning that rangers did not enforce burn ban and allowed a few people to put other campers at risk!

Why no Overnight Camping at Yankee Run - I just wanted to know why after years of coming to Kanopolis and camping overnight at Yankee Run Point with my family, that their is no more overnight camping just day camping. I was there on June 10, 2012 and my family and I were very disappointed when we spotted the signs and saw that the tables and grill were removed from Yankee Run. Not only that but just the back at the end of April begining of May there were no signs and the tables were still there, Can you explain why there is not Overnight camping?

Was Impressed - Beautiful park clear water and no people, a big plus in itself. Only problem is there is no trash service and the unfortunate few that like to get drunk and dump their trash anywhere they want isnt cool, no class. TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU!!!

In response - As a reply to Not Very Friendly...My friend works at the El Dorado State Park. He tells me that all KS State Parks have a vehicle permit charge which is a State Regulation. He told me that the State Parks are fee funded, so they have to be able to charge to maintain the Parks. (Just thought you might like to know.)

love the place - i have hunted here for years one of the best places i have found. love the terrain and the beauty of the park
First time at lake - Spent 3 nights and 4 days at the lake with a large group. Close highway kept some up at night but I slept like a baby with all that fresh air. Bathroom facilities were clean and area was mowed and neat. Some electrical hook ups would have been nice.
One of the best dry camping every - We stayed in a mult. camp site with gazebo and tables over looking the lake. The people were very nice!

Beware of RATS! - We camped there one day last year and had a terrible experience. Overnight pack rats started to build a nest in the engine compartment of our minivan. In the process, they chewed electrical wires and disabled the engine. It cost us over $300 for the repairs. What was very upsetting was that the Park Ranger admitted they had rats in the camping area and did nothing to control or eliminate them. He said they have had damage to their own state trucks. He said they would do nothing to control the rats because that would upset the eco system! Besides causing damage to our van, we were upset that the rats were running around our tent at night, not to mention the health hazard. The Park refused to pay for the damages to our van even though they knew the rats were present. No warning signs were posted.
