A place worth restoring - The FRIENDS of Lincoln Trail Homestead State Park are an active committee of the Community Environmental Council of Macon Co who are working to restore this site to exemplify the historical significance it deserves. Little known, but the first home of Abraham Lincoln in Macon Co, it includes a scenic bluff overlooking the Sangamon River. The boat launch has been restored, steps redone and a native garden is planted around the memorial rock and flagpole. Visit Facebook for more information

Great site of the Ohio meeting the Missi - The camping description is incorrect. There are no electric hook ups.

Solar Eclipse at the Fort: Fabulous - Upon entering the park, we were greeted by lovely volunteers, guided to a shady parking place, and offered solar glasses. My son, Zak, was right, this was the best place to view this awe inspiring event. Being with a crowd made the event special. Thank you park officials, volunteers, Chester, and Mother Nature for such a one in a life time experience.

2017 Solar Eclipse - Thank you for such a wonderful place to view the eclipse!! The park was clean and beautiful. The rangers provided eclipse glasses and that was really appreciated. I cannot thank you enough for providing such a wonderful place for viewing the eclipse, picnicking, and relaxing.

A true pioneer - I remember being about 8 years old, when I realized the mud in our back yard was a historical place. But, my father A.E. Corzine knew how special it was, before most even knew it existed. At 85 years old, he is still making memories and fighting for what he believes in. Thanks should be given to him, more freely.
